VOLUNTARI EVS
STAGIUL A
FRANCI
My name is Francesca and I come from Syracuse (Italy).
I have completed a Master’s degree in “Government Studies and Public Communication” and a Bachelor’s degree in “International Communication”.
My studies have concerned political, institutional and business communication and I have participated in several team activities regarding advertisement, media research and web 2.0. Communication.
This is not my first experience as volunteer. I have co-operated for six months in a non-profit association “C.K.S. Canoa Kayak Siracusa -Amici del papiro"- Amateur sports organization” taking care of advertising and looking after public relations for the promotion of the sport of kayaking. The best things I have learnt and absorbed have been: time management, teamwork and communication skills.
I have also done some voluntary work by helping old people at a soup kitchen during my travels in the USA. Their smiles were the greatest reward and satisfaction I could ever get out of that unique experience. I am proud I have done it and I am ready to repeat it, if need be.
What about doing an EVS project? I think that there are a lot of advantages.
First of all, it is an opportunity to increase my cultural background, because I would be totally immersed in a foreign culture.
It is also a valuable opportunity to learn about other cultures since I would spend a significant amount of time living cheek by jowl and interacting with local people. Even more, it is a perfect way to meet new people and cultivate long-lasting friendships.
I would practice social skills, having the opportunity to confront myself with different people and strengthening my self-confidence.
I expressed my interest for the project “Healthy Lifestyle” because it is essential to promote a healthy life in order to prevent and reduce risks of many diseases and improve physical and mental health. In few words: healthy lifestyle for a better life!
Why in Romania? At the beginning the place was not important for me, but now I am discovering a beautiful country rich in arts, scenic beauty and history.
I am strongly motivated because of the possibility to develop and to practise important skills used in the workplace and at university, such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, activities planning and organization. So, I would have the opportunity to apply my educational and professional knowledge and competencies throughout the project’s duration and the activities entailed by it. I just could not ask for more.
Working in team for a common purpose has always been, in my past experiences, the best glue among people. It has always been a wonderful shortcut towards socialization and adaptation. The diversity of the ethnic groups and age groups, the opportunity to work in a team with others volunteers and the immersion in a new country represents a very precious experience both for my personal and my professional growth.

MAGGY
Hi! My name is Margarida and my nickname Maggy. I´m a 24 years-old girl who loves to travel, take sun, practice sports and read a good book!
I came from a little town in Portugal called Aveiro, known as the portuguese Venezia.
I accept the challenge to be an EVS volunteer within the Healthy Lifestyle project from Millennium Center Association, in Arad, especially because I identify myself with the project and its tasks. As a nutritionist in Portugal I am very sensible to everything that is connected to nutrition. Furthermore, since I know myself I am aware about sports and healthy thinking so the project Healthy Lifestyle seamed to be a perfect match for me.
In this 5 months project period I am expecting to improve my knowledge in non-formal education, Romanian language and culture and also to improve my skills in communication with others within several topics.
I am sure that this SVE experience will also be a great opportunity to travel, meet new people and new cultures. They said that when you travel you leave the pieces of you and receive pieces from the others, so I am also expecting to meet the new me!

I love reading , traveling, meeting new people and cultures.
I like to play sports, especially individual , it helps me to relax.
This is my first experience of volunteering.
I am very excited to have taken this decision.
I was fascinated by the idea of participating in a volunteer project .
I wanted a new experience that would allow me to move and work in the capital. My project is concerned with promoting a healthy life, it would be fair that we deal in all most of our health that we often ignore.
Arad is a city multi-ethnic and is very pleasant to live here .
I finally got the chance to meet Romania, the Romanian population and to learn something about the language and culture of this fascinating country.
The city is very beautiful, the people is friendly and helpful.
I love living with people from different cultures , I learn a lot in the company of people from all over Europe . I have met many new friends Romanians , Turks, Spanish , Italian , Georgian , Portuguese and French . I think everyone should do a ' similar experience because ` he opens his mental horizons , enriches our culture and especially allows to mature within.

SALVADORE
My name is Salvatore from Sicily (Italy). I’m 26 years old and I decided to do an EVS project for many reason.
There are so many advantages to work abroad.
I’m sure after this program I will be more independent person, I will improve my English and I will learn Romanian language.
I love Romanian food: I usually eat fasole, mazăre, gomboti cu brânză in a Romanian restaurant. I have tasted a sip of palinca, a very strong liqueur, but there is also something more lightweight, the socata, a drink made from the flowers of sambuca.
I visited different places in Arad. I was very impressed by the Culture Palace: it is very beautiful in architecture, but also by the “red Church” and its breathtaking bell tower and the Statue of Liberty. Soon, I would visit Cetatea Soimos.
I also like Romanian music and my favorite song is “Emotii by 3 sud est”. I also like Romanian girls so much and it will be very difficult to forget this.
I like my project. I love Healthy lifestyle and every day I try to eat and live in a healthy way. I am vegetarian, I do exercise every morning and I like to practice outdoor activities.
I’m getting ready for the marathon to be held in June and for this reason I am training three days per week.
I feel very well in Arad. I have new friends here and I hope I will have more and more in the future.
STAGIUL B
ANNA GOROZIA
I am Anna, a 24 years old Georgian girl living in Tbilisi. In Georgia , I have been working in one of the most famous commercial bank as a retail credit expert. My main activities and responsibilities are contacting clients and setting up meetings, researching the marketplace and providing clients with the information on new and existing products and services, promoting and selling financial products and so on.
What about myself? I am an easy- going and open-minded person, who always tries to do her best in any activity, having a considerate and helpful way of behaving and also a cheerful mood at the same time. I love to do sports and I have also been practicing Georgian folk dance for more than 4 years, which helps me to cope with success and failure. Some of my strengths are being ambitious, reliable and good team worker.
Why did I choose EVS? During all my life, I have been interested in languages, communication, social issues, arts, nature and other cultures. Therefore, I think EVS will give me the opportunity to combine all these features .Travelling, meeting new people and learning how to manage myself , getting a profitable experience , that will make me grow as a professional and as a person as well.
Why exactly this project “healthy lifestyle” in Romania? My first expression was good, when I arrived in this city. I like this region with its churches, old buildings and tasty food, especially “GiGi . On the one hand, this project attracts me because I get to know a new country, its language and culture and helps me to get in touch with different people. On the other hand, it is a great challenge, which will leave a mark on me, and will lead me to be more independent. All of this can be achieved by working together with other volunteers from other countries and Romanian people for the same goal, which is the healthy lifestyle.
Teresa
My name is Ana Teresa Rego but just call me Teresa from Portugal. I was born in 1988, you do the maths… Although I am very small, my horizons and expectations aren’t. I studied Languages and Translation in Porto, amid that period I grew up to the sound of indie rock and I did voluntary work, organized events, all in the scope of academic projects. But what can I say about myself? I adore music, linguistics, South American literature and to travel.
Unexpectedly, the last two years I have worked as an English teacher, which enlightened me to the fact that I want to share knowledge, teach and also apprehend whatever there is out there for me. Moreover, I wanted to let go of some metaphorical shackles and strains I had in the comfort zone that was my home.
I had learned about EVS projects through a friend, who is in touch with exchange programmes, furthermore I decided to apply. After a year of being registered, I finally was selected to this project I am now representing in Arad, Romania.
I have been in Arad for almost two weeks and, so far, it has been an emotional roller coaster. My first impression of the city wasn’t the best, I came alone and I was exhausted because of a never ending travel. However, things started to change, people are warm and I found the best colleagues possible. It’s important to stress out that the cultural clash it is still happening, nonetheless it sums up to a positive and widening experience, and I am honestly loving it (the good and the bad)
Our project here regards healthy lifestyle, this concerns nutrition, eating habits, sports, schedules and being sound in general, which is not only being in good shape. During the five months of our stage here, we, volunteers, will present our work in school sessions and dynamic seminars, always promoting our ideas and events, and we hope to gather as much people possible.
