MY EXPERINCE AS VOLUNTEER AND PERSONAL CHANGES AFTER EVS:
Firstly, I have changed my eating habits the last years, mainly for health concerns. However I am not much into practicing exercise regularly which, after my experience as volunteer advertising this, I will try to change. I am fully aware of the importance of moving and being active, not only physically but also mentally. I intend to keep eating in balanced way, always adding to my diet fresh fruit and vegetables, with recipes I learned here in the intercultural environment we lived, and maintaining respect for the type of body I have. This means not to let myself go out of lazyness or lack of motivation.
Healthy thinking was always my favourite topic, in this project I used my experience and knowledge with eating disorders to raise awareness among the young participants. For me, it is there where you find balance, eating right for your body and mind, respecting your needs according to nutrients but also indulging some of your cravings.
These last months helped me in my personal growth, I opened my mind for new tastes and recipes, I know more and I enjoy healthy food more and more each day.
CHANGES IN ARAD:
I would like to come back in Arad in a few years and see more people using bikes, and less patisseries and langoseries everywhere. During these months here I found very hard to eat healthy if I was on the streets, I also think soup and salad restaurantes would be a good investment. Less kebab and more soup, and by soup I don’t mean a greasy water with meat! Finally, I think the typical romanian gastronomy is based too much on cheese, read meat and pastry, and this is also a factor that requires some revolutionary change. There is a foundation problem, and the mindset has to be completely reprogrammed.
